Brief history:
Casterton is a town of around 2,000 inhabitants and it had a drive-in! The drive-in was built within the grounds of a property just out of town by renowned industry figure and pioneer, Roy Tuohy. Roy also operated the Portland drive-in at this time. With a capacity of 100 cars it traded quite successfully by all reports for many years. A disastrous flood in 1983 put the entire theatre under water, it was at this time that the decision was made to close the theatre. Roy Tuohy continued to run movies around the district using a mobile 35mm unit.
